UPDATE from GRC:

This conference has been withdrawn from the 2020 conference schedule
As you are aware, coronavirus is having a global impact and the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control have instituted recommendations that include social distancing and cancelling conferences and large gatherings. Since safety of our attendees is always GRC’s highest priority, the GRC Board of Trustees has decided to withdraw this conference and it will be rescheduled for 2022. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution and to alleviate the concerns of our conference communities that are scheduled to meet in this timeframe.

Conference Description
The Gordon Research Seminar on Intrinsically Disordered Proteins (IDPs) is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting-edge ideas.

The fourth IDP GRS will focus on how living systems exploit protein disorder to enrich their functional palette, especially in ways that transcend atomistic to macroscopic length scales. The meeting will explore several questions, including: what organizing principles explain and unify molecular and cellular IDP phenomenology? What information is encoded in the IDP primary sequence that predicts function? How can the present understandings of IDP systems be used to design new materials and medical technologies?

This GRS will provide junior scientists a venue to present, discuss, and receive feedback on their research, to expand their knowledge of established principles as well as relevant open questions in the field, and to promote interactions and constructive networking with successfully established scientists as well as with their peers. The meeting will conclude with a mentoring session led by experienced scientists in the field who will offer their stories, opinions, and advice on scientific careers, entrepreneurship, and research in settings beyond the university.

Interdisciplinary perspectives on IDPs have been and will continue to be critical to the most impactful advances in the field. Therefore, our goal is to draw on broad technical and human diversity to maximize the quality of scientific interactions. We invite applications from all interested parties with varying backgrounds in IDPs.

Application Instructions
The seminar will feature approximately 10 talks and 2 poster sessions. All attendees are expected to actively participate in the GRS, either by giving an oral presentation or presenting a poster. Therefore, all applications must include an abstract.

The seminar chair will select speakers from abstracts submitted by March 20, 2020. Those applicants who are not chosen for talks and those who apply after the deadline to be considered for an oral presentation will be expected to present a poster. In order to participate, you must submit an application by the date indicated in the Application Information section above.

Program Format
Gordon Research Seminars are 2-day meetings which take place on the Saturday and Sunday just prior to the start of the associated GRC. The GRS opens with a 1-hour introductory session on Saturday afternoon, followed by a poster session, dinner and a 2-hour session in the evening. Sunday morning begins with breakfast and is followed by another 2-hour session, a second poster session, and lunch. A final 1-hour session takes place just after lunch, and the associated GRC begins later that evening.
