The 3rd PhasAGE Expert Seminar “Dissecting the contribution of motor-cargo adaptors to microtubule-based transport in neurons” will be held by Reto Gassmann on 15 November at 3 PM (CET) / 2 PM (Lisbon Time).

Reto Gassmann is a group leader at the Institute for Research and Innovation in Health (i3S) in Porto interested in cell division and microtubule-based intracellular transport. His group uses live-cell fluorescence microscopy, genetics, and biochemical approaches in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans and human cultured cells to study the function and regulation of cytoplasmic dynein 1, the major microtubule minus end-directed motor in animal cells.

In this seminar, Reto will present recent findings on how the conserved MAP kinase scaffold JIP3 uses its interaction with dynein and kinesin-1 to drive bi-directional transport of endo-lysosomal organelles in C. elegans touch receptor neurons.

The seminar will be exclusively online and is open to the scientific community.

Registration is free but mandatory. Find more information about the seminar and registration here.

“The Widespread – Twinning project PhasAGE: Excellence Hub on Phase Transitions in Aging and Age-Related Disorders aims at strengthening the excellence, knowledge, and innovation potential of i3S in the emerging field of biomolecular phase transitions. The consortium, headed by IBMC/i3S, includes recognized experts on biological phase separation from Belgium (Peter Tompa and Ludo Van Den Bosch, VIB), Spain (Salvador Ventura, Autonomous University of Barcelona), and Italy (Silvio Tosatto, University of Padova).”
