Phase Separation and the Formation of Cellular BodiesThe RNA Society is pleased to invite you to its 24th Annual International Conference that will encompass the most exciting areas in RNA research. The RNA 2019 Meeting will take place in the beautiful and historical city of Kraków (also Cracow), from June 11 to June 16, 2019.

The program includes three confirmed Keynote lectures to be given by:

Maria Carmo-Fonseca (Institute of Molecular Medicine, Lisbon, Portugal)

Tom Cech (University of Colorado, Boulder, USA)

Phil Sharp (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA)

As in previous years, the remainder of the RNA 2019 program will be developed from submitted abstracts. In the spirit of RNA society conferences, we strongly encourage graduate students and postdoctoral scientists to submit abstracts for oral presentation. The oral abstract submission deadline will be March 10, 2019.

The organizers are preparing our program that will hopefully appeal to everyone, regardless of career stage or specific field of study.

Current sessions topics and corresponding chairs are:
Splicing: Magda Konarska & Woan-Yuh Tarn
Translation: Andrea Berman & Nahum Sonenberg
RNA Modification & Editing: Chuan He
Regulatory RNAs (coding & non-coding) and RNPs: Julia Salzman & Yuki Tomari
Synthesis and Processing of RNA: Karla Neugebauer
Interconnected RNA Processes: Andrzej Dziembowski
RNA localization & transport: Jeff Chao
RNA turnover: Oliver Muehlemann
RNA in disease & therapy: Matt Disney
RNA catalysis, folding & structure: Rick Russell
New research trends and technologies: Jernej Ule

The RNA2019 Meeting will be held in a modern ICE Congress Centre, http://www.icekrakow.com, located on the banks of the Vistula River, across of the Royal Castle, one of the landmarks of Kraków. The Center offers spacious lecture theatres to accommodate scientific sessions and workshops, and also spaces for poster sessions and social mixers. Many hotels are available, most within walking distance from the Congress Centre, at a range of affordable prices to enable everybody to participate. For details, see the accommodation section. We encourage you to book hotel accommodations early since Kraków is full of tourists that embrace different events in spring and summer.

Workshops: We are planning several workshops to expand the breadth of the scientific program. For example, workshops on RNA granules and liquid-liquid phase separation; on computational analyses of RNA and RNPs (computational structural biology as well as analyses of high-throughput sequencing data). In this regard, we welcome suggestions of rapidly developing areas that would be suitable for this format. Final topics will depend on the abstracts received.

Podium Panel Discussion “RNA research and RNA therapeutics: past insights and future prospects”: Moderated by Tom Cech. Already confirmed participants include Joan Steitz, Anastasia Khvorova, Anna Marie Pyle, Matt Disney, and Gideon Dreyfuss.

Cultural events: We want to make this meeting very memorable, combining it also with different cultural events (recital of Chopin music by one of the best Polish pianists, performance by high-landers group from Tatra mountains at the Gala Dinner, and more).
