Job Description:

Description of Duties:

A postdoctoral associate position is available in the laboratory of Morgan Sammons at the University at Albany. The candidate will perform independent and directed research to support laboratory efforts in understanding genetic and transcriptional control of eukaryotic cell stress across a diverse set of organisms. The lab primarily uses molecular, genetic, and genomics approaches in mammalian systems, but the candidate will have significant autonomy and support to perform experiments that broadly meet the goals of the lab. We value creativity and a willingness to learn. The ideal candidate should be able to provide evidence of this in the form of peer reviewed or publicly available manuscripts (such as those posted to bioRxiv). This position is funded by grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).


Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A PhD degree received within the past three years from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization
  • Evidence of experience in the broad areas of molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, genomics or related field
  • The candidate must address their ability to work within a culturally diverse population

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in genetic and genomic approaches to transcriptional control and chromatin biology
  • Experience in genome editing
  • Experience in standard molecular biology approaches (PCR, qPCR, western blotting, cloning)
  • Experience in genetic, genomic, or other types of high-throughput assays


Additional Information:

Salary Range:  $48,000-$55,000 Depending on experience
