Website University at Buffalo

Seeking an enthusiastic and talented biophysicist/biochemist/polymer physicist/polymer chemist/biologist to join Banerjee Laboratory at University at Buffalo (UB) in studying liquid-liquid phase separation of intrinsically disordered proteins and RNAs. The position requires application of state-of-the art single-molecule fluorescence and force microscopy (Lumicks C-Trap) system to study the role of multi-component phase separation in biology.

Research duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Application of correlative optical tweezer and confocal fluorescence microscopy to study biomolecular condensates.
  • High-throughput phase separation assay development, and quantifying nucleic acid-protein interactions.
  • Explore the role of protein/RNA phase transition in human diseases.

The successful candidate will be joining a dynamic interdisciplinary team of graduate, undergraduate students, postdoctoral trainees, and a diverse set of collaborators with a research interest in deciphering and pharmacological targeting molecular-to-mesoscale protein-nucleic acid condensate structure, dynamics, and function. The team is supported by multiple NIH grants including a recently awarded R35 grant from the NIH/NIGMS.
