DESCRIPTION
The Sukenik lab at the University of California, Merced is looking for a Postdoctoral Scholar interested in working at the interface of molecular biophysics and genomics. The project will examine the interplay between the cellular environment and protein structure and function using cutting-edge technologies. The position is funded by a 5-year NIH grant.
The candidate will be responsible for the design, execution, and analysis of state-of-the-art high throughput experiments aimed at resolving how sequence and environment translate into function in disordered proteins.
A successful candidate will get a unique opportunity to conduct independent research in a supportive, collegiate, inclusive, and highly collaborative work environment. An integral part of the job involves mentoring a diverse cohort of graduate students and coordinating research with both national and international collaborators.
Qualifications required:
- PhD, MD (or foreign equivalent)
- Excellent organization, writing, presentation, and communication skills
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to conduct independent research
Qualifications Preferred: Candidates with backgrounds in one or more of the following:
- Deep mutational scanning studies
- Protein biophysics
- Next-gen sequencing and analysis
This position is open to international applicants as well as citizens and permanent residents of the United States and Canada. We can sponsor individuals for a J-1 visa, if required. Salary is based on the University of California Academic Postdoctoral Scholar Salary scale. Review of applications will begin 11/09/2020. Recruitment will remain open until the position is filled.
