Postdoctoral Scholar – Sukenik Lab

The Sukenik lab at the University of California, Merced is looking for a Postdoctoral Scholar interested in working at the interface of molecular biophysics and genomics. The project will examine the interplay between the cellular environment and protein structure and function using cutting-edge technologies. The position is funded by a 5-year NIH grant.

The candidate will be responsible for the design, execution, and analysis of state-of-the-art high throughput experiments aimed at resolving how sequence and environment translate into function in disordered proteins.

An integral part of the job involves mentoring a diverse cohort of graduate students and coordinating research with both national and international collaborators.

Qualifications required:

1. PhD, MD (or foreign equivalent)
2. Excellent organization, writing, presentation, and communication skills
3. Strong work ethic and attention to detail
4. Ability to conduct independent research

Qualifications Preferred: Candidates with backgrounds in one or more of the following:

1. Deep mutational scanning studies
2. Protein biophysics
3. Next-gen sequencing and analysis

This position is open to international applicants as well as citizens and permanent residents of the United States and Canada. We can sponsor individuals for a J-1 visa, if required.
